about

1/33 is an album full of commissions. People paid (money, yes) to have me create a song using their human information- spelling out their names in utility chord-code and using their birthdates to come up with rhythmic concerns. This one was my mom's. Thanks Mom! She told me a story about taking water to her grandmother. Curiously, this isn't the FIRST Utility song about my mom. Please reference Mississippi/Comic Book from 1'32" the first part of the song is mom's and the chords are the same - well, should be anyway. I mic'd the bass strings and that added some nice texture. Pat pat on my back back...

lyrics

Gonna walk down to the well
the path that's marked with the daffodils
Gonna be a good granddaughter
Gonna fetch grandma some cold water

The cold water's at the bottom of the well
that's gotta go for the bucket as well

I love the path with the daffodils
get a waft of that faint sweet smell

I can't imagine it could be hotter
she's gonna love the water that I brought her
I told that the coldest water's on the top
she started laughing and she could not stop
